We previously reported how Roseanne Barr flattened Rob Reiner when he said “we would only survive” if former President Donald Trump was defeated.
Yes, how dare Trump beat the Democrats in an election? We can’t have that!
But now Reiner’s gone even a step further than his prior X post, apparently seeking to live up to his character’s nickname “Meathead” on “All in the Family.”
“Hard Reality: For our Democracy to survive, two things have to happen,” Reiner argued. “Donald Trump needs to be Convicted for Jan. 6th and there can be no Third Party Candidate.”
So the only way our “Democracy” can survive is to have the Democrats’ top political opponent be locked up and no other challengers that might hurt the Democrats’ chance to win? Now, that sounds like the complete opposite of democracy — when you cut off options. How do you think like this and not see the problem with what you are saying?
Unfortunately, Rob is a reflection of where the Democrats are at this point. They want total control, and they’ll do anything to keep it. The only way to save democracy is to cut off the choice of the people or any challenges that might hurt Joe Biden. That’s not democracy. Indeed, it sounds like a banana republic. Democrats scream “Russia, Russia, Russia,” but cutting out opposition sounds like what they have done in the past.
It’s also worth noting as he pushes this odd definition of democracy, that we are not a pure democracy — on purpose — but a constitutional republic precisely because we didn’t want to fall to the vagaries of mob rule. I’m not sure that Rob gets that, either.
Reiner has shown in the past that he doesn’t always have a firm grasp of the facts. Consider, for instance, his post about Enrique Tarrio violently storming the Capitol on Jan. 6 — when Tarrio wasn’t even there.
But perhaps the funniest thing about Reiner’s democracy post is that he’s basically admitting the weakness of the Democrats and Joe Biden here. Competition needs to be eliminated in order for him to win. Gee, that’s a sterling endorsement of your candidate, isn’t it?
Reiner got a well-deserved ratio in response to his horrible take on democracy.
