Remember how we were told America was respected in the world again because of the wonders of Joe Biden? He’s so darn effective and a true statesman. Well, about that.
Biden spoke to the UN General Assembly on Wednesday and decided it’d be a great idea to promise billions of dollars in funding to The Global Fund, which was first seeded by Bill Gates and is a “financial partnership” that deals with AIDS and other diseases, The president spoke at a conference hosted by the organization following his speech before the UN and notably got lost and confused attempting to exit the stage.
Of course, the big question is why Biden would make such a promise when that kind of funding would have to go through Congress. That complication wasn’t lost on South Korean President Yoon Suk-yeol. He was caught on a hot mic using some choice language questioning Biden’s pledge.
Yoon, who took office in May, reacted to Biden’s pledge to increase the U.S. contribution to the U.N. Global Fund, which would require congressional approval.
“How could Biden not lose damn face if these f–ers do not pass it in Congress?” Yoon asked his aides on a hot mic Wednesday, according to the South China Morning Post.
I’ll get to Biden not demanding the respect of lesser nations in a moment, but frankly, this is the problem with globalism. South Korea was basically a US welfare project for most of the last half of the 20th century. The US has guaranteed its defense, spending untold amounts of money to station troops there for decades. And how are we repaid? With this kind of cheap snark from people who just expect the free money to flow forever. South Korea is welcome to keep its own faucet open if it’d like. It’s a very rich country, after all.
The US has enough to deal with without dumping more money into bloated, over-administrated NGOs that have essentially zero accountability. Inflation is at 8.3 percent, the stock market is crashing, interest rates are up, and the economy is in a recession. Never mind that the US national debt is at $30.9 trillion.
Regardless, it’s obvious that no one on the world stage respects Biden. They don’t take him at his word because why would they? His record is one of failure and senility. South Korea’s president has no qualms suggesting the US president is full of it, and he has no problem insulting members of Congress along the way. There was a time when that would be unthinkable.
The United States has fallen so far in standing, and instead of fixing that with strength, Biden has sought to appease our allies with weakness and payoffs. That may make them “like” us more, but it’s not good foreign policy to get run over by the Eurotrash and other nations that see us as a piggy bank.
