Frustrated parents in Virginia have become so frustrated with the Loudoun County School Board have finally struck fear in the hearts of the so-called public servants who have allowed school children under their tutelage to become the victims of mental, emotional, and sexual abuse in the local public school system.
The parents in Loudoun County have taken matters into their own hands as they passed around a petition that garnered an impressive amount of attention as the parent group, Fight for Schools, filed more than 2,000 signatures to remove the board chair, according to Fox News coverage of the ongoing crisis in the Loudoun County public school system.
“By the way, Denise, Brenda, Ian, Atoosa, we are well over 100% of required signatures for the petitions,” Megan Jenkins said during the public comment period. “So I’m not going to encourage any of you to resign because when you are recalled and removed from office, it will be much more satisfying. See you in court.”
Jenkins was referring to the Sterling District Board Chair Brenda Sheridan, Algonkian District Board Vice-Chair Atoosa Reaser, and Denise Corbo, the at-large member. The executive director at Fight for Schools, Ian Prior, previously told Fox News that they had gathered enough signatures to mount legal challenges by getting enough signatures equal to 10% of the votes of the previous election. Jessica Mendez said that the organizers “sacrificed and spent countless hours away from their families, day in and day out.”
“I used to think that there was no point in speaking at these meetings,” Mendez added. “There was no point in trying to have a voice because you never seem to listen, anyway. But I had it all wrong. It wasn’t you who needed to hear our voices. It was all those parents, grandparents, and neighbors listening at home, horrified at your actions or inactions. They were the ones who needed to hear us, and they were the ones who sign petitions, see you in court.”
In addition to the issues with the assault that the parents and children were suffering during recent attacks, the school was accused of using taxpayer money to indoctrinate the children in their schools with the “critical theory of the Marxist philosophy.”
“You have activist teachers using to indoctrinate their kids who are at the mercy of their authority,” she said. “That is child abuse. And you have no right to brainwash children into believing that their skin color determines their purpose.”
While the issue of assaults may have been what prompted the final push that caused widespread outrage, once the parents started to hold the school board accountable, they began to find more issues. Not just Critical Race Theory and its family of troubling ideas, but the more they pushed back, the more they found that the schools felt parents shouldn’t have control over their children’s education. The pushback against CRT morphed into an understanding that there was literal pornography being peddled to children, including sexually explicit materials with images in books like “Lawn Boy” and “Gender Queer,” which parents claimed that the aim of the books was to normalize pedophilia.
The more digging that parents have done into what school boards are curating for their children, the more frustrated they have become, and with good reason. Children are undoubtedly the future of absolutely everything, and when indoctrination threatens the future of the nation through falsehoods and sexual abuse, the stakes are high enough. But when that morphs into an ideology that allows children (and in some cases, teachers) to become sexual predators, it is close to the most egregious crime the caretaker of a child could ever commit, and the school board should count their lucky stars that parents did nothing more than vote them out.
