Joe Biden might be the President of the United States, but it’s becoming increasingly apparent that no one, not even those on his side of the aisle or so-called friends, trusts him to get the job done. And as was proved this past week, that number even includes the likes of former President and Biden’s former boss Barack Obama.
Obama, usually so put together with his speeches, made a rather grave mistake on Thursday when speaking at a rally in Atlanta on Democratic Senator Raphael Warnock’s behalf.
As you likely know, Warnock has found himself in another intensely debated and heated run-off election, this time against former NFL player turned GOP candidate Herschel Walker. To be sure, the race is important for both sides, as it will directly affect who holds the most power in the US Senate.
Naturally, the Democrats are doing everything in their power to get Warnock re-elected. And that means bringing in the biggest of names to support the incumbent senator – names sure to grab attention and bring people in. Names like Barack Obama.
It is noted that despite holding the powerful office in the land and what should be the most name cred in such a race, Biden hasn’t been asked to stump for Warnock or many other candidates of late. In fact, if I didn’t know any better, I’d say the whole of the party is pretty much avoiding all connections to ‘Uncle Joe,’ as he is commonly referred to.
Even Obama doesn’t seem to want much to do with him, which, as I hinted at before, he made quite clear on Thursday.
The comments were made as the former President was speaking about Warnock’s opponent, Walker. Walker recently made headlines after talking about how he’d rather be a werewolf than a vampire. There’s a bit more to the story than just some silly comments. However, it has left plenty of room for those like Obama to poke fun at the man for such.
Obama said about Walker, “We all know some folks in our lives – we don’t wish them ill will – they say crazy stuff.”
But then he went on a bit of a tangent, pulling an example out of his hat for the people to draw on. And that example just happened to be his former vice president.
He said, “You know, Uncle Joe, you know what happened to him. You know it’s OK. They’re part of the family, but you don’t give them serious responsibilities.”
Ummm, yeah. He just went there.
Obama just referred to Joe Biden as “crazy” and not worthy of “serious responsibility.”
Now, to be sure, it might be true. As the last two years have proved, no one should have given the power of the President to a man as deranged and past his prime as Joe Biden. There’s an ongoing and worsening border crisis. Inflation is growing, as is unemployment. No one, not even the Democrats, trust our elections anymore, and don’t even get me started on the rising crime rates.
And all of it can be squarely laid at the feet of Joe Biden and his administration’s poor and ill-executed policies.
As a result, it’s clear that no one respects him or really even thinks he’s capable of doing the job he’s been tasked with, not even Obama. This has been made even clearer when comparing those two leading figures.
Take, for instance, a recent event in which Obama was invited back to the White House to commemorate his Affordable Care Act and its passage into law. It was well documented and observed that during Obama’s short time in those hallowed halls, he and not the current and sitting President was the star of the day.
Pretty much everyone, including Obama, ignored Biden. At one point, Biden even tried to get Obama’s express attention, only to not receive a glance in his direction.
It’s pitiful, really. The President of the United States is so devoid of anything to hold America’s respect or attention that a has-been gets more devotion than him.
Still, it’s not necessarily what one should probably talk about in a speech to the American public, as Obama did. Even the crowd of Democrats didn’t exactly know how to respond to such comments, despite them being true.
