We’ve written about the connection between the Biden team and the media. We’ve seen Democrats move seamlessly between the White House and places like MSNBC and CNN. We’ve seen the Biden team and the DNC coordinate with social media like Twitter to get information that they don’t like suppressed, including about COVID.
Turns out that there was a little bit more of a connection there that was revealed when Missouri Attorney General Eric Schmitt posted the deposition of Dr. Anthony Fauci. His daughter used to work for Twitter and he had to be asked a few times if he knew anyone who worked for a social media platform before he admitted it.
Q. Do you know anyone who works for a social media platform?
A. Do I know somebody who works for a social media platform.
Q. Or at this time?
A. Well, I’ve had communications with Mark Zuckerberg in the past who was — I’ve done, I believe, three outward FaceTime discussions encouraging people to get vaccinated.
Q. Do you know anyone else who works for a social media platform other than Mark Zuckerberg?
A. When you say do I know somebody who works?
Q. Like, do you have acquaintances, people that you know, who work at social media platforms?
A. Well, a person who used to work as a software engineer for Twitter was my daughter.
Q. Oh, your daughter worked for Twitter?
A. She used to, yes.
Q. Did you ever — when she was working at Twitter, did you ever discuss with her the content of stuff posted on social media platforms?
A. No.
Q. Did you ever discuss with her the origins of the virus or concerns about the origins of the virus?
A. No, she has no interest in that.
Q. Was she — what was her role in Twitter?
A. I believe she was a software engineer.
Q. Does she still work at Twitter?
A. No.
Q. When did she stop?
A. Over a year ago.
That’s fascinating. There’s that confluence I was talking about. Her present bio says she worked on Twitter’s Android application. Where she works now is perhaps even more revealing. She’s a senior software engineer for the Empower Project. The bio says she is “passionate about the intersection of tech and social good and excited to be a part of Empower Project’s work in this area.”
What is the Empower Project about?
Most importantly, we partner with progressive organizations and non-profits, and work with leaders already engaged in targeted communities. Relational Organizing is about building real power and a movement that is sustainable beyond the next election, with organizers who will continue to work to ensure their communities thrive.
Among its partners are the Democratic Legislative Campaign Committee (DLCC), the Sunrise Movement, Black Votes Matter, and Indivisible.
Here, they talk about how the group was involved in voter registration drives, environmental advocacy, social justice reform, and even “combatting disinformation.” They also partnered with Wisconsin DHS to increase vaccination rates in the state.
Somehow that would figure.
What else will we find out as we plumb through the deposition and hear more from the Twitter files? Break out that popcorn, I expect more fun on the way.
