I’ve seen stories of Chick-fil-A employees going to great lengths for their customers, but this definitely ranks up there as one of the greatest moments.
In a video now making its way across the internet, a Florida mother was taking her child out of her car when a 43-year-old man named William Branch approached them wielding a stick. The man took the keys from the mother’s waistband but before he could drive away, Chick-fil-A employee Mykel Gordon ran up and pulled the carjacker out.
The two proceeded to tussle on the ground but Gordon gained the upper hand. Soon other CFA employees closed in but Gordon had the issue under control. Branch ceased to struggle against Gordon and sat still.
The Okaloosa Sheriff’s department posted the video, giving a “shout-out” to Gordon for his courage.
Chick-fil-A employees going above and beyond has become something of a meme in America. Randomly, a story will come out about an employee doing some dazzling feat of citizenship that makes the rounds.
So far we’ve got:
- A Chick-fil-A employee jumped out of the drive-thru window in order to save a child from choking to death on a seatbelt strap.
- Employees showed up in Houston on jet skis in order to rescue an elderly couple who got caught in a flood.
- An Employee went into the sewer to retrieve a woman’s phone that went down a storm drain.
- Paid to ship a purse to a woman who lived hours away and had left her belongings at the restaurant during a trip.
And those are the ones I can remember.
Chick-fil-A itself has had some ups and downs when it comes to the popularity of its business, but its employees continue to be a great example of, not just customer service, but how to be good people. This time, it wasn’t just a good deed, it was an employee putting themselves in danger in order to help someone who needed it.
