Democratic candidates have proven over the years that they just don’t know how to handle their alcohol.
We’ve seen countless Democrats show up in the news for being a bit too loose-lipped once they had something to drink.
Most of us can remember when Beto O’Rourke traveled to New England and decided he was going to stand on a table in the middle of a bar with a beer in his hand. He ranted and raved like a lunatic – and shortly after, he decided to call his presidential campaign over.
Now, another candidate showed up at a slumber party in Oklahoma. We’re not exactly sure why she decided to hang out with a bunch of teenagers, but there was name-calling and vomiting involved.
Abby Broyles is a Democratic candidate who is running for the House of Representatives in Oklahoma. She’s running against Stephanie Brice (R-OK) for the Fifth District.
According to a report by NonDoc, the candidate was at a slumber party where there were multiple 12 and 12-year-old girls. Sarah Matthews, the mother of one of the girls in attendance, talked about how Broyles had vomited into a laundry basket and even called three girls “F*ckers.”
This all happened on Valentine’s Day weekend. Clearly, Broyles knew the mother that was hosting the slumber party, but we don’t know why she was there – or even why she would decide to interact with the pre-teens who just wanted to have a good time without Broyles interfering.
Matthews made the comment that “It’s so sad, because this is someone who has stood on a soapbox and talked about empowering women, and rather than do that with these girls she chose to belittle and denigrate the next generation of women.”
It is sad…and it’s definitely a concern on more than one level.
Matthews has reached out on Twitter to get an apology from Broyles. As of when you’re reading this, there’s yet to be any kind of apology.
What does Broyles have to say about it? Oh, you know, the typical Democratic response of deny, deny, deny.
“I have been out of town on a fundraising trip, and they are awful and offensive and false.” She claims that it’s all been a political attack and that none of it is true.
Her office has not responded to the various press requests to comment on what happened. This also means that they have yet to confirm in Broyles was in the town where the slumber party took place or where she was during the Valentine’s Day weekend.
Perhaps running for political office has been too much for Broyles to handle. She has had another unsuccessful campaign in the past. Back in 2020, she lost a Senate race to James Inhofe, the Republican incumbent.
Now, she’s trying for another Republican-held seat, and it doesn’t look like she’s going to fare any better. Maybe it’s a sign that she needs to stop trying for seats that are held by Republicans. It may also be a sign that she needs to quit drinking since she clearly cannot recall the events that others remember very well.
The slumber party’s host said that she had to call the parent of everyone in attendance to apologize and discuss what happened. One person at the party said that Broyles’ behavior was like “a switch and she started being rude to people.”
Well, it doesn’t look like Broyles is going to win her House campaign. She says “I’m just telling you it’s not true…” It doesn’t sound like she’ll be issuing an apology any time soon, either.
