Cuomo Just Bragged About How The Pandemic Was A Tremendous Personal Benefit

At this point, Gov. Andrew Cuomo is publicly patting himself on the back for his handling of COVID-19 amid an ongoing probe and investigation into his leadership. In a 10-minute speech at this year’s National Governors Association, Cuomo said they all have a “new credibility” going through the pandemic together and that it was a “tremendous personal benefit” in speaking for himself. He said he felt confident in doing the best work he could under those circumstances. Yikes.

“The circumstances were impossible. But we did the best that we could do. And I’m proud of the effort that we led together and I believe we saved lives,” Cuomo said.

Cuomo is currently facing a federal and state investigation into his administration’s cover-up of the state’s nursing home death toll from COVID-19, which resulted in fifteen thousand senior citizens in nursing homes killed. There is also a string of sexual harassment charges and groping allegations from current and former female staffers.

Allegations against Cuomo started when top aide Melissa DeRosa privately shared with Democratic lawmakers that they “froze” and hid the true number of nursing home deaths against former President Donald Trump’s Justice Department. She said that they feared it would be “used against us.”

Cuomo has continued to deny any wrongdoing and even published a book in October, detailing his leadership response to the COVID-19 pandemic. He received a whopping $5.1 million for his book titled “American Crisis: Leadership Lessons from the COVID-19 Pandemic” and even had staffers working on it as “a part of their job.”

Tracey Alvino, whose dad Daniel died from COVID-19 in a Long Island nursing home, said if that’s Cuomo’s best then she’d hate to see his worst. She said she was outraged by his remarks because fifteen thousand senior citizens in nursing homes were killed because of his fatally flawed decisions that were not based on science. “His personal benefit was $5.1 million in his bank account from his book,” Alvino said.

A family member of a victim in a Staten Island nursing home said it’s easy for Cuomo to pat himself on the back since he didn’t lose a loved one. She said he gave his family members and friends private testing instead of the people in the nursing homes. She said he hurt the most vulnerable.

Cuomo also said during his speech that before the pandemic, students would ask him, “What does a governor do?” He said he replied back that “no students ask that question anymore. People know what governors do.” Cuomo is still facing multiple investigations and an impeachment probe by the state Assembly Judiciary Committee.

Every time Cuomo opens his mouth he insults grieving New York families and feeds into his own lies and corrupt behavior. With the stack of scandals against him, it’s surprising he hasn’t been prosecuted yet. But the powerful always have a different set of rules than the rest of us.
