Rep. Donalds Claims Cori Bush Tweet Flies In The Face Of Reality, Says Black Americans Are Thriving As The Years Continue

It started with a tweet that far-left Rep. Cori Bush posted on the Fourth of July. Bush was demonizing the Fourth of July and claiming that Blacks are still not free.

“When they say that the 4th of July is about American freedom, remember this: the freedom they’re referring to is for white people. This land is stolen land and Black people still aren’t free,” Bush tweeted.

The tweet took everyone by surprise and received criticism from both the left and the right. The most critical of them all were Black Americans, who said they are tired of being told by the Democrats that they are a victim because of their skin color.

Rep. Byron Donalds called out the tweet for engaging in “pure and utter foolery.” He said that we know the country has a past when it comes to race but that there’s never been so much progress for Black Americans in our country today. He mentioned going through civil rights, Jim Crow, Reconstruction, the Civil War, and the Emancipation Proclamation.

“For her to tweet this out, it’s just trying to get press. It’s frankly disgusting. It makes no sense. It flies in the face of reality, especially when Cori has the ability to serve in the people’s House. Just like I do in America in 2021. That’s (not) how Black people are being oppressed. That’s Black people thriving, and we’re going to continue to thrive in America as the years continue,” Donalds said.

Donalds also argued against tweets about the Declaration of Independence being written by men who owned slaves. He said that the theme of the document was to have a country by and for the people that were free from British charity. He said that he continues to live up to that while Democrats are the ones always trying to take us back.

Donalds said that people need to live where they are today and move forward. He called it the most “divisive” kind of rhetoric and said it was not the kind of talk that brings America together. He said further divides the American people and that nobody subscribed to being a part of any of this. He said it was nasty politics and that he was tired of hearing these kinds of comments.

Darrell B. Harrison, a podcast host, said that Cori Bush was a “very angry Black woman” with her anger eating her alive from the inside out. He said that he pities her because the freedom she seeks is not the freedom she needs. “As such, freedom will continue to evade her as long as she carries that anger within her heart,” he wrote.

Political commentator Leo Terrell also tweeted: “Do not respond to this idiot: She just wants attention: She hates herself!”

Besides personal commentary, former GOP congressional candidate Kimberly Klacik emphasized that she wasn’t going to say something rude. She said it is best to ensure that someone is running against her with every resource necessary to take her seat in 2022.

Other users wrote that they are descendants of slaves and have been free all of their life. Some asked what “they” is in this construction since it would alienate Black people and other non-Whites from having freedom. “This would shock Ralph Ellison, Albert Murray, Stanley Crouch, and countless anonymous others,” one user wrote.

Democrats continue to marginalize, compartmentalize, and victimize minorities. It’s hard to believe that these are the people who continue to vote for. And hey, America is so great that apparently people who aren’t “free” can get elected to the United States Congress too. Or at least according to Cori Bush.
