South Dakota Gov. Kristi Noem recently announced that she will be suing the Biden Administration for canceling their Independence Day fireworks celebration at Mount Rushmore. The National Park Service has rejected the state’s application for a permit for the event.
She is demanding that the court issues her a permit for the event to take place and has requested that President Joe Biden follow their 2019 memorandum agreement, which allowed the return of firework events in 2020.
“Mount Rushmore is the very best place to celebrate America’s birthday and all that makes our country special. Unfortunately, the Biden Administration canceled our Mount Rushmore Fireworks Celebration. So we’re suing them to get the fireworks back,” Noem tweeted, along with a series of announcements.
She explained everything about the agreement between the State of South Dakota and the National Parks Service for being able to host safe and responsible firework shows. The lawsuit, which refers to the 2019 memorandum, claims they could continue the annual fireworks display in 2020 because there wasn’t sufficient explanation or scientific evidence to show that COVID-19 poses any significant health risks to the event.
The Biden Administration only told South Dakota officials that they would ‘circle back’ and then abruptly reneged on the agreement for 2021. Gov. Noem said that the new administration “departed from precedent and reneged on this agreement without any meaningful explanation” and that they are asking the courts to allow these events to take place.
The National Parks Regional Director Herbert Frost wrote a letter to South Dakota officials in March informing them that health risks associated with COVID-19 display a risk from “many tribal partners” of the Parks Service and that was the reason for canceling the Independence Day events.
But Gov. Noem claims that President Biden’s entire vision for America is just more government, even beyond the pandemic. He’s pushing state lockdowns and mask mandates, even though there is scientific data that they don’t work. States are reopening and cases are lowering. President Biden can no longer push the same radical-left narrative. After his first joint address to Congress, Gov. Noem asked what happened to the American dream and about empowering the independence and ingenuity of the American people. She said all government aims to do is “create all jobs and spend all money.”
This isn’t the first time Gov. Noem filed a lawsuit against the Biden Administration. She recently joined Louisiana Attorney General Jeff Landry and 8 other state attorneys in suing President Biden for establishing regulations to the social cost of greenhouse gases.
The states claimed it would kill thousands of American jobs and impose even more burdens on the American people. The following states joined in the lawsuit filed in the United States District Court for the Western District of Louisiana: Alabama, Florida, Georgia, Kentucky, Mississippi, South Dakota, Texas, West Virginia, and Wyoming.
“After a year of misguided lockdowns in response to the COVID pandemic, the last thing that America needs is more burdensome regulation that will cripple our economy. President Biden’s attempt to implement a ‘social cost of greenhouse gases’ value will result in the government sticking their hands into virtually every aspect of our day-to-day lives. With this lawsuit, we are committed to fighting off such unconstitutional overreach,” said Gov. Noem.
President Biden, himself, even cited Independence Day as a “target date” for the nation to fully return to normal after the pandemic. Now, he’s pushing goalposts like Dr. Anthony Fauci, the nation’s “top” medical adviser. But people can see right through the “science” they are pushing to know that a fireworks show doesn’t spread COVID-19.
