Why The Biden Administration Cares More About The Word ‘Crisis’ Than The Actual Crisis

For the first time, President Joe Biden called the surge of migrants flooding the southern border a “crisis” and that his administration will increase the refugee cap for this fiscal year. He announced the increase just hours after signing an order that kept it at Trump-era levels and sparked rage from House Democrats.

While former president Donald Trump lowered the refugee cap to 15,000 for 2021, President Biden has campaigned on the promise to increase the cap to 125,000 for the next fiscal year. He recently signed an emergency presidential determination that kept the number at 15,000 but allowed changes to the regional allocation. He allowed more slots from Africa, the Middle East and Central America, while ending restrictions on Somalia, Yemen and Syria.

Radical left politicians, such as Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, have spent weeks refusing to call the border a “crisis” and instead calling it “challenges on the border” or an “imperialism crisis.” Under the Trump era, Democrats were calling migrant facilities “concentration camps” and that there was a border crisis happening every other day.

The Customs and Border Protection reported a record 172,000 migrants in March alone. Not to mention, many of them were children, but the left hasn’t made a peep. Until President Biden accidentally used the term when speaking to reporters at the Wilmington Country Club.

”We’re going to increase the number [of refugees]. The problem was that the refugee part was working on the crisis that ended up on the border with young people. We couldn’t do two things at once. But now we are going to increase the number,” President Biden said.

White House press secretary Jen Psaki shared with reporters that President Biden doesn’t actually believe his own use of the word “crisis” in reference to the situation at the border. That means Psaki is claiming that President Biden doesn’t even believe what he says anymore.

“The president does not feel that children coming to our border seeking refuge from violence, economic hardships, and other dire circumstances is a crisis. He does feel that the crisis in Central America, the dire circumstances that many are fleeing from, that that is a situation we need to spend our time, our effort on, and we need to address it if we’re going to prevent more of an influx of migrants from coming in years to come,” Psaki said.

Senate minority leader Mitch McConnell later shares that the Biden Administration is more focused on “woke proofreading” than actually handling the crisis at the border. He points out how obsessed the administration is about their talking points and refusal to call the crisis a crisis.

“The president of the United States himself slipped up and used that forbidden word. But get this, he was then overruled by his own staff. Yesterday his press secretary said President Biden actually didn’t intend to describe the situation as a crisis,” McConnell said.

The priorities of wordplay recently infiltrated the Customs and Border Protection and Immigration and Customs Enforcement. The Biden Administration tasked them with abandoning the term “alien” with “noncitizen or migrant” and “illegal” will not become “undocumented.”

Even though the surge of migrants at the border grows everyday, President Biden and his administration are more interested with the optics of language.
