On Sunday, former White House Press Secretary Jen Psaki threw Joe Biden and the Democrats under the bus when she said that if the midterms were a referendum on Joe Biden, the Democrats were going to lose.
But that wasn’t the only truth she laid out there on the Democrats. She also said they were vulnerable on crime, that it was a “huge vulnerability for Democrats.”
We saw that borne out with the new ABC/Po poll that had likely voters preferring Republicans on crime by 22 points.
Fox’s Peter Doocy didn’t not [sic] miss Psaki’s comments and he then used them to put the current White House Press Secretary Karine Jean-Pierre on the spot.
“Jen Psaki says that crime is a huge vulnerability for Democrats. Why would she say that?” Doocy asked.
Jean-Pierre replied that she didn’t “agree with your characterization of what she actually said.” He quoted exactly what she said. Indeed she said it was one of the biggest vulnerabilities for the Democrats. But Jean-Pierre still wanted to pretend that wasn’t what she said. We live through the looking-glass at this point where the White House doesn’t even pretend to care about being truthful or connected with reality. They know not everyone will have heard what Psaki said, so KJP just will try to lie her head off anyway.
KJP then started spewing lies about Social Security and Medicare, which has nothing to do with the original question about crime, so you know she had no real answer to the question from Doocy.
Then Doocy got right down to it: Does Biden truly think that America’s big cities (most run by Democrats and most having big spikes in crime) are safe?
Jean-Pierre acts like she has no idea that crime is a problem as Doocy lists high profile examples like Rep. Karen Bass (D-) getting robbed and the Washington Commander’s running back getting mugged. She has a tell when she’s about to lie or deflect, “So I’ll say this,” she says. That means: Prepare for the spin. “So I’ll say this…the crime is complicated and multi-faceted… It is not a yes or no question.”
Yes, it is a “yes or no” question for the people having to deal with it. What are you going to do about it?
KJP’s response? Blame Republicans. She has the nerve to suggest that it was Republicans or President Donald Trump who wanted to defund the police when it was a full-on Democratic effort in many Democratic cities that decimated numerous police departments. She said nothing about what they were doing to address crime.
This was all an outgrowth of the BLM movement in 2020. So not only did we get the destructive riots, but we got the continuing damage to police departments as a result, which hurt many Americans. And Democrats embraced all that when they honored BLM during their convention in August 2020, even after so many riots.
But again, KJP has no answer because they haven’t done anything to improve the situation. She just keeps digging that hole deeper.
