Fully vaccinated Department of Homeland Security chief Alejandro Mayorkas just tested positive for COVID-19, which led to the cancellation of a planned trip to Columbia with Secretary of State Antony Blinken. Assistant secretary to the DHS Marsha Espinosa announced that Secretary Mayorkas had tested positive after taking a coronavirus test for his pre-travel protocols. Even though he is fully vaccinated, she said he is experiencing “mild congestion” and will isolate himself while working from home per the CDC protocols.
Mayorkas was just with President Joe Biden and First Lady Jill Biden over the weekend at the 40th Annual National Peace Officers’ Memorial Service. They stood alongside one another during the service at the US Capitol. Mayorkas also spoke at the Eradicate Hate Global Summit in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania before testing positive for COVID-19. It is unclear at the moment how he contracted the virus, with Espinosa only noting that “contract tracing is underway.”
Besides his trip to Columbia, Mayorkas was also supposed to appear before the Senate Judiciary Committee for an oversight hearing this week. He is not the first official to test positive for viruses despite being fully vaccinated. Sen. Lindsey Graham, Rep. Vern Buchanan, House Speaker Nancy Pelosi, and State Department spokesman Ned Price have all tested positive for the virus despite being fully vaccinated.
Many critics have questioned how President Biden can implement a federal vaccine mandate when it’s clear that the vaccine is not 100% effective against contracting the virus. His entire argument is essentially thrown out the window. While the CDC has claimed that fully vaccinated individuals experience less severe symptoms than those who are unvaccinated, it doesn’t validate the argument for a mandate when you can still contract the virus.
Others pointed out that there has been a high risk of COVID-19 at the southern border. The administration even announced that they would continue using Title 42 public health protections to return migrants, citing the risk and spread of COVID-19 in border town communities.
The administration previously came under fire for releasing migrants into the U.S without even testing them for the virus. Meanwhile, Americans need to COVID-19 testing and vaccine guidance in order to travel, eat out, go to the gym, or even maintain a job.
Chris Magnus, Biden’s pick to lead the Customs and Border Protection, said that the lawmakers were committed to making sure migrants are tested before being released into the U.S.
Mayorkas’ test results just add to the glaring stack of evidence that the vaccines are not effective against the virus – and never have been. Mainstream media sources still ignore the large Israeli study that shows the natural immune protection that develops after COVID-19 offers “more of a shield” against the Delta variant than two doses of the Pfizer-BioNTech vaccine.
Guess it couldn’t have happened to a more deserving guy who promotes vaccine mandates in the country while refusing to screen at the border.
