The FBI has come under a great deal of scrutiny in recent years, much of it deserved. But when they get it right, they get it really right. In the latest such example, a potential terrorist was identified and apprehended in Houston, Texas.
FBI Houston SAC Douglas Williams announces the arrest of 28-year-old Anas Said. He is accused of attempting to provide material support to ISIS, and, by his own admission, planning a #terrorist attack on U.S. soil – all from his apartment in far west Houston.
The suspected terrorist was said to be looking for ways to commit acts of terror on U.S. soil, according to the FBI’s briefing.
As of this writing, it’s unknown if Anas Said was acting alone.
While the plotter has been identified, there is no information (yet) as to his immigration status, if any. He was, however, said to be planning attacks on, among other places, military recruiting centers in the Houston area.

Authorities said 28-year-old Anas Said was doing this all from his apartment in far west Houston.
The FBI said Said admitted to researching how to carry out an attack on local military recruiting centers, offering his home as a sanctuary for ISIS operatives, bragging that he would commit a “9/11-style” attack if he had the resources to do so. He also attempted to produce ISIS propaganda.
Said is charged with providing material support to ISIS.
The FBI is (of course) not releasing any information as to the nature of the investigation, how Said was identified, and what evidence there is against him – but regardless of that, there is now a would-be terrorist behind bars instead of wandering around loose. The FBI officers in Houston have earned their pay this month.
