Well, ladies and gentlemen, as one of the people who is a resident of the state of Michigan, I can tell you that the next 594 days — until election day of 2026 — are going to fly by. We might as well just assume we’ll go to bed one night and wake up, and it will be election day already.
You know how time flies.
I follow politics in the blue state of Michigan, and when I say that Michigan is a blue state, I tick people off who want to believe beyond hope and reason that it’s not. I do understand that a once-in-a-lifetime candidate by the name of Trump could win the state by incredibly close margins, but once-in-a-lifetime candidates are just that.
Anything could happen in the next 20 months, and with a new leadership structure in the Michigan GOP along with the momentum of what Trump is doing in Washington, there is hope that things could turn around in Michigan.
Fingers crossed.
Some big-name Democrats (and a big-name former Democrat who is now an independent) have declared their intention to succeed Gretchen Whitmer as the governor of the Great Lake State.
I have written about a couple of them:
The Democrat (independent) is current Detroit Mayor Mike Duggan, and I will write about him soon.
Republicans so far had been positioning themselves, and the candidate who ran against Whitmer in 2022 announced that she was considering another run for the top job in the state or possibly the seat of retiring Democrat Gary Peters in the United States Senate.
I came across the story right HERE:
Tudor Dixon, the Republican businessperson and conservative commentator who unsuccessfully ran for Michigan governor in 2022, is weighing another run for political office in 2026, but she hasn’t decided which one: U.S. Senate or governor, again.
“I want to do the most good for our beloved state,” she wrote Tuesday on the social platform X. “Both races present unique opportunities and different ways to benefit Michigan.”
“I will decide soon where my experience and talents would most benefit the state we love so dearly,” she added.
In her statement, Dixon praised President Trump, who endorsed her failed campaign against Gov. Gretchen Whitmer (D) three years ago, for actions taken since his return to the White House in January and reaffirmed her support.
“President Trump is leading the way nationally. He is delivering on his promises to secure the border, bring manufacturing jobs home and boost energy independence,” she said. “I am committed to standing with President Trump to deliver on the America First agenda here in Michigan.”
Dixon gathered more votes than any Republican who had ever run for governor, with almost two million votes, but she lost by nine points in a blue state in which the Michigan GOP was also in shambles at the time.
There is something that she did in her campaign that as somebody who is a huge pro-life supporter, I noticed and appreciated. She defended the concept of being pro-life and rolled over Gretchen Whitmer with her shallow talking points on being pro-abortion.
Dixon did not back down or cower on the subject either in the debates with Whitmer or on the campaign trail from the video that I watched of her touring around the state. Abortion in Michigan is one of those topics that conservatives stumble over talking about, and she didn’t.
She shined on that and, overall was the much better choice, hands down.
But Michigan is a blue state, so…
Personally, I hope she decides to run again for Governor, being it would be a pleasant change if she could win from what we have had for the past six years and someone with her ability to communicate could make some inroads into discussing the pro-life view to the voters in this state.
Get ready, everyone — election day is just around the corner.
Below is Dixon’s official tweet and full statement.
I want to do the most good for our beloved state. That’s why I’m considering a run for governor or United States Senate. Both races present unique opportunities in different ways to benefit Michigan.
Over the last 6 years, we have seen Gretchen Whitmer drive our state into the bottom 10 nationally. It is time to bring Michigan back and lead once again.
Together we can chart a path that grows jobs and drives down costs, brings manufacturing home, gives taxpayers their money back, makes our government transparent, and sets our kids up for bright futures.
President Trump is leading the way nationally. He delivered on his promises to secure the border, bring manufacturing jobs home, and boost energy Independence. I’m committed to standing with President Trump to deliver on the America First agenda here in Michigan.
In the coming weeks, I will continue to reach out to those in our state who can help turn it around and discuss our future and what it can be.
I appreciate the encouragement and outpouring of support and favor of doing more to bring Michigan back from Gretchen Whitmer’s lost decade.
I will decide soon where my experience and talents would most benefit the state we love so dearly, it would be my honor to serve the great people of Michigan.
