This is going to come as a supreme shock to some on the left and many in the press: When you go to the length of actually enforcing our laws, they will have the desired effect. For four years we have watched as President Silveralert opened the doors at the border and the media made denials and excuses while Congress played the blame game. Now we see that all of this could have been addressed — in the span of one week.
Since taking office Donald Trump has had two priorities regarding immigration: make the border secure again and begin a post-active stance toward deporting illegals in this country. Results are already being seen. Bill Melugin of Fox News has been one of the few in the press willing to go to the border and detail what has been happening for four years, and he now reports that he is seeing dramatic shifts in the activity.
The numbers were already flat/low in Biden’s final week, bouncing between 1,200-1,400 illegal crossings daily, but the numbers have been falling off a cliff since Trump took office.
After a flurry of executive orders, the reinstalled border protections were followed by orders to remove the shackles that the Customs and Border Patrol had applied to it for years, and states like Texas could once again employ their own border security measures, something the Biden administration bizarrely fought against in federal courts. This is what needed to be done to get to this more manageable level.
Melugin puts into perspective what these current numbers represent, as it is at a level he has not experienced very often.
The amazement here is only how quickly it took to get these results. Joe Biden fought these types of policies while Congress dithered and played games with a Senate bill that did little more than post a guard by the door with no actual intention of closing it. The media spent years telling us that there was no crisis and that immigration is actually a wondrous spectacle this country needed, all while hiding realities. And let us not forget the tougher House border bill that Chuck Schumer completely muzzled and refused to bring to the floor for a vote.
As for that Senate bill, let’s also recall that Trump was accused of working behind the scenes to have it killed off, allegedly because he wanted the crisis to continue. As he has shown this week, it did not require a comprehensive bipartisan Congressional agreement to be brought to Biden’s desk for approval, all it required was a willingness and some backbone. Biden never wanted this result, the Democrats deflected away from it, and the press agreed to run cover all the while. Today, they are all seeing something they told us was not possible – results.
EXCELLENT!
