With Friends Like This… DHS Official Used Social Media to Promote Illegal Immigration

For voters, the two top election issues are the economy and immigration. Americans are rightly holding the Biden-Harris administration responsible for the complete and utter chaos at the southern border as millions of illegal immigrants have been allowed into the country. Homeland Security Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas, Joe Biden, and Kamala Harris have spent the last three years telling Americans that the border was secure and closed. But it now appears that one of Mayorkas’s merry band at the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) decided to give a helping hand to those immigrants by way of social media.

Illegal immigrants themselves have taken to social media to record their treks to the United States, but now the assistance is homegrown. Wilson Osorio is an associate counsel with the U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services office of the Chief Counsel. Osorio has allegedly used his social media accounts, such as YouTube and TikTok, to advise potential border crossers. A report by a group called the American Accountability Foundation (AAF) says that Osorio’s social media presence reads like a how-to/travel brochure for illegal immigrants.

Osorio’s videos on YouTube, TikTok, and Instagram began appearing in July. One video shows Osorio asking an illegal immigrant what tips he might give someone getting ready to make the trip. The illegal immigrant warns about the extremely hot and dangerous conditions in the desert and coyotes who leave illegal immigrants to die there if they faint from dehydration. The report goes on to say that it seems the man is advising against the trip, but Osorio spins the tips as positive.

The bulk of Osorio’s videos, however, look a lot like a late-night timeshare ad with lots of happy, satisfied customers. Who could resist this sales pitch on Instagram?

The American Dream is alive and well. This is the story of a Honduran immigrant who entered the United States illegally ~20 years ago. With hard work and dedication, he is now the owner of an expanding restaurant which brings in over $1 million in sales.

Other videos include one man who claimed he makes $1,000 a week selling fruit. In another, there are more warnings about desert heat and smugglers. In another clip, a woman says she is in the country illegally, but her daughters helped to keep her from being deported, and she got a work permit.

It used to be when immigrants came to America, it was because they wanted to become Americans. They wanted to assimilate into American culture and society. Not anymore. In one video, one illegal immigrant says:

“In the [US] you work hard for your money but crossing the border was worth it. Thanks to my work here, I built a house in Honduras and I will soon be moving back.”

While we know that the immigration system has been a problem for quite some time, it is another illegal immigrant who claims he came to the U.S. during Reagan-era amnesty and is now a citizen. Let that sink in; this person has been here since the Reagan years. He says, “I got papers through amnesty, and now I am a citizen.” Just one question: if you manage to fly under the radar for that long, have you achieved a sort of “common-law” citizen status?

In a statement, AAF President Thomas Jones called Wilson Osorio exactly what he is: another Biden-Harris leftist who is trying to shove his own agenda down the throats of Americans:

Wilson Osorio personifies the plague of unelected radical leftist bureaucrats turning this country upside down. Even as he collects his taxpayer-funded salary, Osorio pushes his radical open borders agenda that is endangering the safety, stability and livelihoods of millions of Americans. It is an utter betrayal of the American people. He must be fired immediately.

DHS has not commented on Osorio’s social media activity, nor have they confirmed his employment. But Wilson Osorio is one guy in a vast bureaucracy whose activities are not likely to get him fired. Just the opposite; he will probably get a promotion. He is enabled by being a government employee to push his own agenda. How many more are there just like him?

  1. I’ve seen lots of people who send money back to their homeland but they live here. Occasionally they take a couple of weeks vacation to go see family and bring clothing. This is acceptable because they’re tax payers. To come here and go back? It’s not a revolving door! I wonder if this guy gets something on the side? We all know the cartel charges a fee, maybe this revolving door is cheaper and safer?
