Midway through former President Donald Trump’s Friday town hall event in Fayetteville, North Carolina, he was given an extraordinary gift by an extraordinary man.
A decorated Vietnam War veteran, identified only as Dwight, appeared on stage halfway through the event to present the Republican presidential nominee with a “small token.”
That “small token” was the Marine’s Purple Heart.
Before the presentation, Florida Republican Rep. Anna Paulina, the moderator of the town hall, read a letter the decorated Marine had penned to Trump shortly after the assassination attempt in Butler, Pa., on July 13.
Dear President Trump, watching you during the Butler rally, and you getting back up, both my wife and I gave a sigh of relief as well as a few tears. I would be honored if you would accept this small token I received as a young marine in Vietnam. My wife and I both thought it appropriate. God bless you, your family, and the United States of America.
Sincerely, Dwight.
On Friday, Dwight personally handed an envelope containing the distinguished award to Trump, telling the former president:
I couldn’t think of anybody more deserving of a Purple Heart. You took it. You laid down there. You got back [up]. And the first words out of your mouth was ‘fight, fight, fight,’ You didn’t even have anything to shoot back at him. You got guts.
After Dwight said “It was a minor wound, but it was close to being a terrible one,” Trump responded:
I got very lucky. And maybe it wasn’t so much luck. Maybe it is something else, right? Maybe there’s something else up there.
“Maybe” there is.
Dwight also revealed that Trump personally wrote a “beautiful letter” back to him and gifted him a presidential challenge coin, a symbol of respect and gratitude for individuals who have demonstrated extraordinary commitment or achievement.
“I never expected that from the president of the United States,” Dwight said.
Can you imagine Joe Biden or Kamala Harris— never mind; you know where I was going with that.
Earlier in the event, Trump blistered Harris over the Biden-Harris administration’s “lousy” response to Hurricane Helene and its aftermath in the storm-ravaged state.
Kamala should be here. They’re giving you lousy treatment in North Carolina, and we don’t like that. So, we’re going to let it be known. And they have to get a lot better because people are not happy.
As RedState reported on Friday, cognitively vacant Joe astonishingly said, in response to a question about what the states in the storm zone need, “They’re getting everything they need. They’re very happy across the board.”
Trump continued:
They are doing the worst job on a hurricane that any administration has ever done. What a rotten job they are doing in North Carolina.
The Biden-Harris administration has done a “rotten job” everywhere else left devastated by the monster hurricane. As my colleague Sister Toldjah reported, last Monday:
Incredibly, when Biden was asked Sunday whether those in the impacted areas like in hard-hit western North Carolina would be able to expect “any more resources [from] the federal government” beyond what they were already allegedly getting, he coldly responded “No.” Even worse, when asked Monday why he and Harris had not been “here in Washington commanding this this weekend,” a snide Biden snapped by saying he had his phone with him and had made some calls.
Meanwhile, Kamala Harris, “who just returned from her San Francisco fundraisers, read directly from a pre-written script as she told Hurricane Helene victims they have her ‘support.'”
Which means exactly what?
As we’ve seen for nearly four years, Joe Biden and Kamala Harris are full of hollow words and promises (See: Biden-Harris border crisis), but when it comes to demonstrable actions, they’re nowhere to be seen.
Anyone who believes a Harris-Walz administration wouldn’t be at least as bad is a fool.
