Don’t believe your own eyes. That was the message from the far-left following the assassination attempt on Donald Trump as they spread conspiracy theories that he wasn’t actually shot.
Claims ranged from “it was glass” to the entire shooting being staged. That’s expected from the BlueAnon lunatics. It’s less expected from the head of the Federal Bureau of Investigation.

As RedState reported, FBI Director Christopher Wray decided it’d be a good idea to spread the left-wing conspiracy theory that Trump wasn’t hit by a bullet.
The question Wray should have been faced with after his comment was, shrapnel from what? I’ve shot a lot of .223 rounds in my life and never once has one randomly exploded in mid-air. The teleprompters were not struck, as evidenced by pictures taken immediately after the assassination attempt. The bullets fired also went past Trump’s head and killed a man standing in the background. Was he hit by “shrapnel” too?
Wray’s suggestion was not only illogical, but it was insanely irresponsible. His remark went viral on the left, including in the press, with multiple outlets parroting the nonsense conspiracy theory.
On the right, demands for clarification arose.
Sen. Lindsey Graham, R-S.C., ranking member on the Senate Judiciary Committee, sent a letter to FBI Director Christopher Wray on Friday morning, urging him to correct his testimony “immediately” when he said he was uncertain whether a bullet struck former President Trump in the ear at his July 13 Pennsylvania rally.
Wray testified Wednesday that he wasn’t sure if it was a bullet, piece of glass or shrapnel that struck Trump in the ear while he was speaking at the outdoor rally.
In response, the FBI put out a statement on Friday attempting to clean up Wray’s mess:
While that’s better than stupidly suggesting it was glass that struck Trump, the statement still reeks of contempt. It also once again leaves the door open for conspiracy theories. What evidence is there that the bullet “fragmented into smaller pieces?” How would that have even happened? It is clear watching the video of the shooting that no bullets struck the podium, teleprompters, or surrounding area. They were higher, which again, is why they ended up killing a man in the bleachers standing behind Trump.
Yet, the FBI, even throwing itself under the bus to avoid backlash, still wants to leave the waters just muddy enough to let BlueAnon run wild. It’s so incredibly typical, and it’s another reason Wray should be fired the moment Trump takes office, assuming he is victorious in November.
Besides, why does any of this even matter? Someone tried to kill Donald Trump at a political rally. That does not become a less significant event depending on what struck the former president in the ear. The left and their press allies are so partisan and so driven by their thirst for power, though, that they are trying to make that case sans any evidence at all. It’s disgusting, and it’s the kind of thing that would lead newscasts if it was a Republican questioning an attempt on a Democrat’s life.
