Is Kamala Harris the worst vice president in modern history? There’s a pretty good case to be made for that assertion given she makes Dan Quayle look like a Rhodes Scholar.
Her governing skills match her orating skills, which it to say she’s terrible in both arenas. Her penchant for using tired cliches and repeating words because she’s so ill-prepared to give public remarks reared its head again recently.
Have you ever known someone who thinks far too highly of themselves and constantly speaks in lofty platitudes in an attempt to prove how smart they are? That’s Harris, and the fact that it continues despite the fact that she’s been through more speech writers than pants suits during her term as the vice president suggests the word salads and faux intellectualism are all her creation.
Now, sources from within the White House are reporting trouble in paradise, revealing that Biden is frustrated with his vice president (The New York Post).
WASHINGTON — Two former White House officials said President Biden is frustrated with Vice President Kamala Harris’ performance — even if he remains committed to keeping her as his running mate in the 2024 election, a new report reveals.
The 80-year-old Biden, who has gone out of his way to praise Harris in recent public remarks, reportedly has griped about his No. 2’s reluctance to take on risky assignments.
“A point of tension in their relationship is that I don’t think that the president sees her as somebody who takes anything off of his plate” due to a “fear of messing up,” one former White House official told Reuters.
Another former White House official told the wire service that Biden, already the oldest-ever president, intends to seek a second term in part because he’s concerned that Harris may not be able to beat former President Donald Trump, who is seeking the GOP nomination.
On the one hand, Biden is obviously right that Harris is a colossal do-nothing who was only placed in her position because of the left’s cynical pursuit of identity politics. On the other hand, Biden himself is a colossal do-nothing who was only placed in his position because of the left’s cynical pursuit of power. So yeah, there are no good guys here.
The problem with putting someone like Harris as the vice president is that her ambition rules. There is no doubt in my mind that she assumed Biden was a one-term president when she accepted the role of sidekick. Typically, you want a vice president who will take the lumps and endeavor to provide real-world experience to serious issues that the president might not have. But Harris’ experience was back-benching in the Senate and being a laughably bad attorney general in California.
Her pursuit of the vice presidency wasn’t about adding anything to Biden’s ticket the way Mike Pence or Dick Cheney did. It was about propelling herself to the presidency, and back in 2020, but she’s managed to completely screw up what seemed like a slam-dunk by being so inept. Even with a press that does nothing but praise her, she has still managed to become one of the most unpopular politicians in history. That takes real skill.
That Biden is blowing her best-laid plan up by signaling a re-election bid that would place him at 82 years old on inauguration day is more than enough evidence of her failure. To coin Harris’ infamous styling, the worst vice president in modern history has made history by making history the way history is made.
