Transgenderism has been sweeping the nation. It’s all about choosing to identify as a gender different than your biological sex. Certainly, there are individuals who feel as though they were born in the wrong body – and after feeling that way for a specific amount of time, they may even take medical measures to make the adjustment.
The medical aspects can include hormone therapy, puberty blockers, and even gender reassignment surgery.
Obviously, parents need to protect their children from some of the transgender activists who are pushing to let anyone make such decisions. If you’re over the age of 18 and feel that you’re in the wrong gender, that’s on you.
A three-year-old cannot make such a decision. They haven’t lived long enough to even know the difference between sex and gender. And children get confused. It’s why they’re in school to learn their ABCs. It’s why they often say that they want to be a princess or an astronaut when they grow up.
Children say a lot of things, but that doesn’t mean that we need to affirm each and every thought that pops out of their heads.
Yet, the Department of Education in Pennsylvania is ready to do exactly that.
The department’s website claims children as young as three can identify as transgender. Further, they advise teachers to ask students about their preferred pronouns before making assumptions.
Pronouns typically aren’t taught until the second or third grade, but sure, let’s assume that a three-year-old would know how to answer such things.
It gets more confusing. In the past, pronouns were he/him or she/her. With the introduction of transgender, we’ve even accepted they/them. Oh, but there’s even more to be aware of.
The website explains, “In addition to the traditional pronouns (he/him, she/her, they), some people prefer to use gender-neutral pronouns, such as ne, ve, ze/zie and xe.”
The website is there as a resource for teachers and provides the explanation that binary gender is a concept that is faulty because there’s the assumption that only two genders exist – male and female. They go on to say that gender expression is “how we show our gender to the world through external choices (e.g., dress, behavior, hairstyle).”
There’s a big difference between choosing to be transgender and accepting some of the various gender stereotypes. The department is also advocating for a “gender-neutral” day where students should be encouraged to pick a few ways to reject gender stereotypes.
All of this is going to be too overwhelming for kids. So, if a boy chooses to wear pink, does that mean that he wants to identify as a girl? Of course not. What about a girl who wants to cut her hair short? Again, no. Yet, this is just one of the many ways that the progressive agenda is trying to push transgenderism on today’s youth.
Erika Sanzi, The Parents Defending Education Director of Outreach told Fox News that “this is part of a national effort in schools to ‘break the binary’ by confusing young children about biological sex and indoctrinating them into believing that gender is a spectrum.”
Sanzi makes the argument that anyone trying to teach gender fluidity to a three-year-old doesn’t belong in a classroom.
When will the Democrats allow children to be children without shoving their progressive agendas down everyone’s throats?
The Department of Education needs to come to terms that there’s no need to ask about pronouns. Let kids be kids for a little while longer. Once they’re 18 and have been properly educated about what the various gender roles are, then and only then should they be able to make a decision about who they are and how they want to present themselves to the world.
