During former President Donald Trump’s presidency, he took an “America First” approach to push the right policies and defending the American people. But according to Washington Post reporters Carrol Leonnig and Philip Rucker’s new book, House Speaker Nancy Pelosi revealed that she thought Trump would launch some type of nuclear attack during his final months in the White House.
Leonnig and Rucker’s new book is titled “I Alone Can Fix It: Donald J. Trump’s Catastrophic Final Year.” According to the book, Pelosi revealed to the chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff Gen. Mark Milley that she thought Trump was a dangerous maniac and crazy. She said that after the failed insurrection on Jan. 6, she asked Miley for his “guarantee” that Trump would not be able to launch a nuclear strike and start a war.
“The situation of this unhinged President could not be more dangerous, and we must do everything that we can to protect the American people from his unbalanced assault on our country and our democracy,” Pelosi said.
She said she discussed “available options” with Milley about preventing the president from initiating military hostilities or accessing launch codes and ordering a nuclear strike. Colonel Dave Butler, a spokesperson for Milley, said he answered all of Pelosi’s questions about the process of nuclear command authority
The book even went on to say that Trump could try to use the military to remain in the White House after January 20. But according to Milley, there was not going to be an accidental firing of nuclear weapons. He said there is a legal, ethical, and moral process, adding that Trump was just a “classic authoritarian leader with nothing to lose.”
Milley told Leonnig and Rucker that they discussed plans if Trump and his allies tried to take illegal action following the 2020 election. They said they had a plan to resign rather than carry out any orders they considered “illegal or dangerous.”
Pelosi has emphasized starting a select committee to investigate the Jan. 6 Capitol incident, saying that it is “imperative” to establish the truth of that day and ensure that another attack of that kind can never happen again.
While there will still be Republican members on the committee, Democrats will have the majority and control the select committee. Senate Minority Whip John Thune even warned that the commission might be a “political weapon” in the hands of the Democrats.
But Trump released a statement attacking the House Speaker and the fears she revealed to Leonnig and Rucker for their new book. He called Pelosi a “known nut job” and said he helped get America out of wars as president.
“Nancy Pelosi is a known nut job. Her enraged quotes that she was afraid that I would use nuclear weapons are just more of the same. In fact, I was the one that got us out of wars, not into wars,” Trump wrote in a statement.
The former president went on to say that he got respect for our country again when the “leaders of the world” were laughing at us. He said they didn’t laugh when he was in office.
At this point, Nancy Pelosi is trying to cover her own tracks of being responsible for security at the Capitol and refusing the requests for more. Did anybody catch that she requested the nuke codes be transferred to her? Talk about an act of treason. They wanted to push the nuke scare to steal an election and put President Joe Biden in his place.
